Today’s Floral Friday is all about flowers and pumpkins.
So grab your favorite drink and sit a spell and “enjoy the view!”
Welcome to my Cinderella Pumpkin Centerpiece – Floral Friday.
I have found myself drawn to the softer shades of Fall.
Maybe it is because the Berry Patch House does not have as much natural light
that I am used to. Darker shades seem to add to the inadequate light, so I tend to
use lighter shades these days.
I love Cinderella pumpkins of all sizes, shapes and colors.
Did you know that they are Heirlooms originating from France? Rouge Vif d’Etampes
Hmmmm … is that why I like them so much?
I hollowed out the pumpkin which has a very rich colored orange flesh
and inserted an Ikea metal flower pot with floral foam.
I usually start with my filler (greenery and such) first.
However, since I was just using eucalyptus for accent and filler,
I started with the larger flower in the arrangement, the pretty soft green roses.
I chose pink spray roses for my splash of color.
At first I thought that I would just go with the soft green roses and white flowers;
however, I am a color gal and chose the deeper pink.
White Stock flowers add such a delicate and wispy appearance to the arrangement.
I love how the Stock flowers can be placed in an upright position in the arrangement
and also placed to where they are cascading down the centerpiece for a beautiful effect.
They also have a very pretty scent.
It is said that this pumpkin, called the Cinderella, could have inspired
Charles Perrault’s classic French fairy tale.
So what is better than to add some vintage French books to the centerpiece
adorned with pumpkins (the Boo kind) 🙂
Now I thought this centerpiece, being related to Cinderella,
deserved to be displayed on a pretty silver tray.
The top portion of the white flower pot was showing above the opening of the pumpkin.
I wrapped some pretty linen ribbon around the pot to disguise it
and it also created some pretty texture. You know how much I love to add
the surprise element of the ribbon to my floral creations.
Hope you enjoyed my “Cinderella Pumpkin” Centerpiece and now it is time
to visit my dear sweet friends of Floral Friday.
