The Sunroom Reveal at the Berry Patch House

Hello Dear Readers!

It’s been a while since I promised a peek of the sunroom at the Berry Patch House.

When we were moving in, all things that were in the category of

“I do not know where I am going to put this” …. went into the sunroom.

This room is a collection of things that do not have it’s “own home,” however,

it will different once we move into the “right-sized” house.

Please come in and see the Sunroom Reveal at the Berry Patch House.

This is what you see when you enter the room from one of the many doors

that lead into the sunroom.

From what I can understand, the sunroom was originally a screened porch

and the owners decided to place windows in the room to create a sunroom.

This is why there are two sets of sliding glass doors that open to the sunroom.

In my humble opinion, I think it would be really great if the two sets of sliding glass doors

and the window that is in the breakfast room, be removed to open up the entire area.

The Great Room is relatively small for the house being 5,000 square feet.

Opening up the area between the Great Room area and sunroom would really be lovely.

At first I thought that I would not dress up the sunroom for Christmas;

however, it needed some Christmas cheer.

I added pillows that I have had for several years.

All of the pillows (with the exception of one) are from Pottery Barn.

The outdoor furniture that is in the sunroom was formerly on the upper back porch.

Did you spy my potting bench in the corner that was in my previous sunroom?

It is one of the few pieces of the wicker that I kept.

I gave most of the pieces in the sunroom to a family member

as I would not have a place for it in the new house.

Some of my watering cans are nice and cozy in the sunroom.

Here’s something you may not have seen before,

a great deal that I got at a consignment shop …. a large antique metal French wine pitcher,

used in wineries to pour wine into larger containers.

Before I found it at a consignment shop,

I saw many of these in a French antiques shop for 4 times the price! …. score!

I filled it with fresh greens from Trader Joe’s.

On the other side of the potting bench is my wicker chair (kept that)

with metal faux bamboo stacking tables that I got on super clearance at Pottery Barn.

Yes, they are new, however, I know just where they will go in the new house.

A grapevine wreath with a snowy evergreen garland was placed on the mirror.

Love how the mirror reflects the outdoors.

I was able to locate some of my favorite Santas…my felted wood Santas that I made!! 🙂

Placed one on the tea cart ….

And the other on the coffee table . . .

An ironstone pitcher with a “bouquet” of pinecone also sits on the coffee table.

Just some simple decor.

These pieces under the painting were also in the former upper porch.

This high top table was formerly in the bonus room (my hubby’s former man cave).

The pool table was left in the former house for the new owners to enjoy.

The vintage gate was hung by the door that leads on to a stairwell

to the lower back patio and backyard.

The sunroom is a bit eclectic to say the least but it has been a cozy spot to relax.

Some have asked where we were in the building process… really don’t want to know!

Changed the plan again….using another exterior product and changed the porch!

Hope to break ground next month. …. When that happens you will be the first to know!

Are you super organized and have all of your decorating, shopping and wrapping done?

I am not one of those as stated above…..I am three days behind being stuck in the house!

As soon as the ice clears, I will be running the roads catching up on pre Christmas activities!

Thank you for visiting and have a Very Merry Day!!! Fa-la-la-la-la!

  21. I’m amazed at how beautiful your sunroom looks Shirley! You decorated it perfectly, and no one would imagine this is a temporary space.

What you describe about the porch is exactly what I see happening in our community…lots of people either have or want to open up their great room to their porch. Our neighbors have taken out their screens and put in windows and the next step is to take out the window to the great room. I agree that it makes sense and I would love to do it too but I don’t think it’s in the cards. On the other hand I like having a screened in porch and I think I might miss having an ‘inside outside’ room.

Anyway, no new post up but wanted to stop by and say happy New Year and see what you’re up to :).

  26. A new sunroom provides extra space that can serve a variety of purposes. Use it as a family room where you and your loved ones can relax and enjoy each other’s company. It also creates a quiet oasis that’s ideal for a home office or engaging in hobbies like painting, writing or drawing.
