Citrus and Flowers – Monday Morning Blooms

Hello Dear Readers!

It’s been a while (again).  Things are moving and shaking around here with many

decisions to make with regard to the new house. Valentine’s Day was momentous in many ways.

Other than spending it with my Loves, we finally broke ground! Did you hear the earth move?

Now on the subject of special things happening, today is very special as it is

the 3rd Monday of the month which means it is Monday Morning Blooms day,

when I and my most wonderful fellow bloomers Lidy, Mary and Pam

will be sharing some great floral inspiration.

Today’s common theme is Citrus and Flowers.

So sit back and enjoy some great floral inspiration!!

CITRUS AND FLOWERS – MONDAY MORNING BLOOMS

The beautiful images and links (below each image) of Lidy’s, Mary’s, and Pam’s

are shown at the bottom of the post. Their creativity is always beyond amazing!

One day when scrolling through my Instagram, I came across this incredible image by

Sweet Pea Knoxville, showing an incredible arrangement at The Cloister at Sea Island.

It inspired me for today’s Monday Morning Blooms of Citrus and Flowers.

I often wished I had a foyer large enough for a large round table so that I could

keep beautiful fresh floral arrangements on to greet family and friends.

I gathered my blue and white vases and containers and

began to attempt to create my version of the inspiration image with what I had on hand.

I realized as I arranged the blue and white pieces on the table,

with the exception of the egg cups, which were a Bombay purchase many years ago,

that all of the other pieces came from my fav consignment store, Always Home (Durham, N.C.)

A trip to Trader Joe’s yielded:

Alstroemeria

Calla Lilies

Daffodils

Forsythia branches

Freesia

Spray Roses

I chose lemons as my “citrus” as I love the color combination of blue and yellow.

I seem to be presenting my Monday Morning Blooms from my dining room lately.

However, can you blame me for wanting to have that great backdrop?

I was so happy  that my Trader Joe’s finally got in a stock of  Forsythia branches,

As I had been  swooning over my friend Kim (Savvy Southern)

Forsythia branches that she had on her mantel..

Love how the Freesia drapes from the vase.

Lemons on wood skewers are placed among the spray roses.

Lemons and alstroemeria are placed in this sweet footed bowl.

A trio of calla lilies are added to the “floral vignette”

I wish I could have found a small lemon tree,

so the next best thing was to gently place a few lemons between the forsythia branches.

I couldn’t come close to that gorgeous inspiration image;

however, the key word is “inspiration” . . . a way for us to create our own version

of something that inspired us.

I took an inspiration image and made it my own! …. and you can do it too!

Speaking of inspiration . . . the wonderfully talented ladies of Monday Morning Blooms

will knock your garden gloves off with their gorgeous floral inspiration today!

  1. Gorgeous Shirley! Your inspiration photo from The Cloisters is beautiful but I love your collection of blue and white with the backdrop of your handsome French armoire! Such a gorgeous combination of yellow blooms paired with your citrus and blue and white vessels. If I’m ever up near Durham, I think a trip to Always Home is in order! With our crazy warm February temps the past two weeks, our forsythia has buds. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it doesn’t get frost nipped before it blooms. It’s going to be a rainy and dreary week, so thank you for the flower therapy and beautiful blooms this morning. I look forward to starting my week with my flower loving friends. ♥

    • After 5 days of the Forsythia being in that vase, they have beautifully bloomed…just wish they were fully bloomed by the time I was photographing…I can see the Forsythia blooming along the roads now and yes, hope a late freeze does not get to them!

  2. Love all that yellow mixed with the blue and of course against that gorgeous backdrop. So glad you found the forsythia branches. Mine are gorgeous now in full bloom and yours will be soon.

  3. Shirley, this takes my breath away on this rainy Monday morning. Pairing blue and yellow has to be one of my favorites, especially with your gorgeous collection! The Cloister inspiration photo is beautiful, but you took their inspiration and with your creativity made it your own. The forsythia, daffodils, spray roses, and callas make a gorgeous statement with lemons! I envy that you have a Trader Joe’s nearby. We are supposed to get 8-10 inches of rain this week so it is a pleasure to start my week with my Monday Morning Bloom friends. Wishing you a joy-filled day❤️

  4. Beautiful! I love blue and yellow. Daffodils are my favorite.

  5. Gorgeous! You are lucky to be breaking ground this time of year. Our ground here is quite frozen….with lots of snow piled on top. Hope you’ll be taking lots of pictures of the building process. In the meantime….I will enjoy your beautiful flowers! 😉
