Hello Dear Readers!
Things are moving along at the Hickory Cottage . . .
yes, we named our house.
I shall tell the story later about how I came up with that name.
Things are actually moving along faster
than I expected and so are the requirements
to make decisions that I was not quite ready to make
such as shower and tub fixtures
as they will be doing the rough plumbing soon.
Because I have been busy with the “cottage”
there hasn’t been much time to do some “pretties” around the house.
My orchids were not doing so well on the dining room table
due to insufficient light,
so I changed out the orchids and placed my chinoiserie crock
with faux flowering branches
on the table. No need to worry about the light on these pretties:
Now on to the Hickory Cottage Updates:
As you walk up to the house you see this:
It is probably evident that you can see the garage on the left,
a courtyard garage design. This actually looks a lot like our former house,
but wait till the roof goes on!
The opening/window to be is the dining room window.
That brick structure will be the porch.
This is the view of looking at the Foyer/Dining Room from the Great Room.
The dining room window is on the right.
I am standing in the Great Room looking into the Sunroom.
Below is a side view. A door will open up to stairs leading down to the patio.
Above is the large window in the Master Bedroom.
Above is the view of my Sweetie’s room.
She will definitely have a great view and a great window seat.
So that’s it for now….I will have more pics soon!

Yes..previously (as you know) slotted for the screened porch…it is 24×15….
Well there’s some progress! I can imagine you are in crunch time on decisions! The sun room is going to be fantastic! Boy I am imagining it with the roof trusses and it’s going to be quite grand!

This is so fun and exciting to follow the progress on “Hickory Cottage”!!!! It looks like it is going to be a BIG cottage!!! I know how hard these decisions are, but you will make wonderful choices, I know!

Wow..things are progressing along quickly with “Hickory Cottage”. It seems like it was just the other day when there was only the foundation. When things get to this stage decisions start coming at you fast and furious but I know how much fun it is picking out materials, fixtures, etc and seeing it all come together. Looking forward to learning how your new home got its name.
Shirley, Hickory Cottage is moving along rather quickly, it seems. I know you are more than ecstatic for it to be finished and I am excited for you!
Shirley, As one who has built several live-in houses, as well flipped houses down to the studs and started over…I can feel your excitement. I like your vision and I understand the choices and decisions. I know you are aware that sometimes it can be overwhelming, but my suggestion is to make it a journey and enjoy every minute.
