Blue and White with Copper Fall Tablescape

Hello Dear Readers!

I cannot tell you how much I have been

looking forward to the Fall season this year and

the Autumnal Equinox ~ the first day of Fall is tomorrow!

So let’s celebrate today with our Monday Morning Blooms!

Yes, we (Lidy, Mary and Pam and I) are back to bring you

some fabulous Fall flower inspiration.

The links to the amazing posts are at the

end of this post under their beautiful images.

So let’s welcome Fall today with my

Blue and White with Copper Tablescape

I actually chose the color scheme of my

tablescape after I purchased my flowers.

Loving the blue of the hydrangeas and the

mix of pale and deep shades of orange,

Copper came to mind along with blue and white.

Here are the flowers that I chose:

Flowers tucked in and on my stack of

vintage benches (in my laundry room hallway) are:

Orange Alstroemeria

Gerbera Daisy (pale peach)

Hydrangea (Blue and White)

Orange Mums

Pepper Berries (Peach)

Orange Thistle

White Stock

and White Boo Pumpkins

I thought how nice those flowers would be

in a copper container. However, I did not

have a large enough copper vase for all the

flowers I wanted to use. I shopped the kitchen,

hmmm, I have great cooper cookware … why not?!

So I grabbed one of my Mauviel dutch ovens,

filled it with floral foam and started creating.

I love mixing blues with copper so I went to

my hutch in the breakfast room and gathered

my favorite blue and white dishes (vintage Noritake)

that I obtained from my friend Martha.

Glassware is Fosteria American.

The perfect compliment to my china

were the blue and white placements

with monogrammed napkins that I won  🙂 in an IG giveaway

from the fabulous Amy of The Collected Nest.

(Her link above will get you to her Instagram account

where the link to her beautiful shop will be located.)

The berry bowl was a great piece

to prop up the napkin and a white boo pumpkin.

I cannot wait til this virus settles down

so that I can start entertaining again.

However, today I shall pretend that the

table is filled with guests.

When creating a larger size arrangement,

I always seem to start with the larger flowers

first; therefore, all of the hydrangeas were

set in place at the beginning. I then placed

the gerbera daisies in a symmetrical fashion.

Alstroemeria and mums were then used as fillers

and the stock, pepper berries,  and orange thistle were the last

flowers to be placed in the arrangement.

I placed a few pumpkins around the base

of the arrangement using floral skewers.

I love that the skewers are green and

they blend well within the flowers.

I wanted to keep the center of the table simple

so I just added a several velvet pumpkins on each

side of the floral centerpiece.

Note to self: photograph your

copper centerpieces the same day . . .

as the condensation may cause the copper to tarnish

overnight!

I love copper. There is a lot of copper

on the exterior of our house…..the roofs on two cupolas,

the flashings, the porch light, and the roof on my birdhouse.

I love using it indoors too!

The dining room is cheerfully dressed for Fall.

Hope you enjoyed my very first Fall Tablescape

in our new dining room. I plan to do another one soon.

Now it is time to visit my beautiful flower adoring friends.

You will  certainly want to Fall into Fall right away!

  2. Shirley, your dining room is so stunning with the fall tablescape. The copper pot is perfect for all of your autumn flowers. I love that you tucked pumpkins Into your arrangement. The blue and white Noritake china is beautiful paired with the placemats…blue and white is always classic. The addition of velvet pumpkins adds another element of autumn. Your stacking benches are perfect, flowers look great on them. I can see them used for so many photo shoots in the future.

  3. Shirley, your arrangement is so pretty in its lighter side of fall tones and the copper Dutch oven. My favorite photo is the last one of your dining room. I love how the chandelier’s frame is centered on the painting over the mantel with the view of the wheat and boos. Very pretty! Like you, entertaining right now is just a dress rehearsal for what we hope will soon be the real thing. Happy Fall!

Shirley, your post is lovely. I so enjoyed shopping at AlwaysHome and meeting Angela on a recent trip to visit our daughter who lives near Raleigh! I know why you love that shop!! I wished I could go there everyday! You are lucky! And what was really funny to hear from our mutual friend, JoAnn, when I returned home to SSI that she knew I had been there because I had mentioned you and her during my visit. Good news travels fast sometimes! 🙂 Anyway, have a wonderful week and enjoy your lovely Fall weather!! Janie

  6. Shirley, I always look forward to your posts! Your arrangement looks awesome. I normally don’t like orange but this is gorgeous. Love seeing your new house And how you decorate it as well! 10. I love the copper with the blue. Your arrangements are always so beautiful. Your Fostoria is the same pattern as my mom’s. I inherited it. I never use it. She had so many pieces. It just fills up my cabinets. I have tried to give it to the granddaughters, but they don’t entertain formally, or they just don’t like it.😀
I always love reading your posts.

  11. Oh Shirley you have my heart on this one. The blue and whites and then those gorgeous flowers in the copper. Stunning. Big hugs my friend. xoxo Kris

I like your ingenuity, in using a copper pot. I love copper too, especially in the Fall, and I plan to continue incorporating it into my decor, in spite of reading that the decorative czars have determined that it’s “out.” To me it will always be “in!” It gives me a feeling of warmth and wellness. I bought a large copper planter some years ago to use beside my husband’s chair to corral all the bits and pieces that collect there, and I’ve been thinking of using it for a floral arrangement on the dining room table. Maybe first I should give it a protective coat to keep it from tarnishing? Thanks for sharing your beautiful floral arrangement and your lovely home!

  14. The color combination in your arrangement is exquisite…the peach and blue just dazzle.

  15. Breathtaking Shirley, I adore the soft colors and flowers you chose! I love the thistleberry, I had some last fall and really enjoyed it. Your cooper tureen is gorgeous paired with these flowers, it looks like a pumpkin! {that’s awful that it can tarnish overnight!} I just might have to make a beeline to Trader Joe’s and get some flowers today! I love the way you tucked in the mini white pumpkins, it is really beautiful and with your gorgeous blue & white china, the whole table is just stunning! Thank you for the eye candy today!

  16. Nancy Brantley says

The copper is pretty with your flowers. I have always loved copper. Love the picture with mirror.

  17. Your arrangement is exquisite and I LOVE it in the copper pot! Love those monogrammed napkins too. Our weather went from Summer to Fall in a heartbeat! Our last few mornings have been in the 40’s!! Highs in the 60’s. But tomorrow it is supposed to go up to 79 so that will be a nice treat! Have a beautiful week my friend!!

  18. Jill Jones says

Hi, Shirley – Your table and flower arrangement is simply stunning! And your new house is absolutely gorgeous. I love it all. I especially like the color you selected for the walls in the kitchen, great room and sunroom. Would you kindly share the brand and color you selected? I am preparing to repaint the interior of my home and love how warm yet clean the color you selected looks.
    Thank you, Jill

    P.S. I am not a blogger…simply a blog admirer. 🙂
