The Great Room for Christmas

Hello Dear Readers!

I am getting near the finish line

toward the end of the Christmas decorating

(however, is there really an end?).

Today, I thought that I would take you

into the room where we spend the most time in….

the Great Room. It is not really a large area

as it is divided by a small sitting area to its

left…but I do love the coziness of it.

The Great Room for Christmas.

This year my goal was to keep the mantel simple.

Well, as simple as I get.

I was able to place the garland directly

on the top of the mantel as I had the builder

make a 10 inch wide mantel vs. the 7 inch I

had in our former home.

I wanted the versatility of placing larger items

on the mantel. More is more…right?!

I kept the color scheme fairly neutral

with small pops of color here and there.

My very large silver tray holds pretties

of the season.

Cannot forget the blue and white!

This is the table that is beside my chair.

It has my favorite photo and other things

that make me smile.

You can see how the Great Room is really the

“Cozy Room”.

I can sit in my chair and see into the foyer

and through the large doors. It certainly does

lends to a feeling of spaciousness.

My view into the foyer of a twinkling tree

and a beautiful Jingle Bell poinsettia.

Shirley, your house looks divine. Love how you’ve incorporated your blue & white pieces. You gave me a great idea w/ your last post; using the Lismore crystal candleholders inside hurricanes. I’ve always just used brass or silver, but the crystal will be so pretty w/ all my crystal serving pieces. Don’t know why that’s never crossed my mind. I always get such great ideas viewing other homes. Hugs!

SO smart to have your builder increase the depth of your mantel! I think ours is 9″, but that’s STILL not enough for me!!! I wanna be able to sit a refrigerator up there if I want to!😁
