Summer Porch Blooms

Filling a porch of seasonal blooms is always

a wonderful way to greet your family and friends

saying welcome with a smile!

Hello Dear Readers!

Happy Summer!

I hope that the start to your summer is

well on it’s way to doing the fun things

you have been longing for!

What a say to kick off the summer with

Monday Morning Blooms than to present our

theme today of “Outdoors”

I am presenting my Summer Porch Blooms

Join me and my Beautiful Blooms Friends

Lidy, Mary and Pam as we present the “Outdoors”

The links to their flower sensations are below

their inspiring images at the end of this post.

We have not been in our new home very long…

just over a year….however, it’s been a

challenge as most of you know, to create

new gardens and plan our landscaping.

For example:

We contracted to start construction on our

fireplace/patio back in November, 2020

Due to lots of weather, supply, labor and so on issues …

it has taken a long while; however, it

should be completely finished very soon!

It’s a 2-tiered patio with the fireplace I have

always wanted. The fireplace will be “christened”

with the first marshmallow roast event conducted by my Sweetie.

(Note: darker spots on patio/fireplace are wet areas

after a rain event.

I had hoped to dress the patio for our Outdoor theme

today; so I turned to the front of the house … the porch.

This beautiful park was on our walk

back to the hotel when we were in Knoxville.

I took a picture and said to my hubby…

I think this is our next project.

He just gave me “that smile”..one can dream!

I simply placed some clippings from my

sunshine ligustrum and the hydrangea plant

that was blooming on the side of the house

in a lantern turned vase.

My sweet “lady” sits on the tea cart

welcoming the birds.

I have chosen “pretty in pink” for my

summer porch colors and you can see those

colors in the front yard in geraniums,

knock out roses and vinca.

These hydrangeas came from a local garden center

and they have bloomed profusely. Soon it will be time

to plant them in my “hydrangea garden”

Soon I shall go to my favorite garden center

and choose some “heat tolerant” plants as

the temps are definitely rising and the porch

gets the morning sun.

The hanging baskets are called Bridal Veil.

They require less water than my other flowering baskets.

Moving over the the left side of the porch

we have a bench for two.

Would you believe the ivy topiaries

that flank the doors are over 18 years old?

Our monogrammed door mat (from Frontgate)

welcomes our family and friends.

Semi-rounded steps lead to the porch.

You may see some “construction objects” in the background.

My view for many months!

My limelight annabelle is twice the size now as in

this photograph and the blooms are large!

I had one on the other side of the

porch; however, for some reason it didn’t make it. 🙁

This curvy driveway will lead you to the house.

Thank you for visiting my front porch

of summer blooms today! Hope you enjoyed it!

Now it is time to visit my wonderful Blooms friends!

Their outdoor themes are truly inspirational.

Shirley, Your entrance and front porch is so beautiful and welcoming! I love those double doors, your herringbone pattern brick “rug” with your pots and topiaries flanking your entrance. I’ve always loved a ‘haint blue’ ceiling, my MIL had one on her porch. And your back patio with fireplace…swoon! What a wonderful outdoor area and retreat you’ll have at long last. I know you’re itching to get your furniture in place! A toast and a S’more’s christening is called for, for sure! As always it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy. Happy Monday ♥

Shirley, Your porch is so beautiful and inviting. I love your pink hydrangeas and geraniums in your lovely urns and blue and white pots.
I love your tea cart and lady sculpture with your fresh hydrangea arrangements. Such a pretty spot to view from your bench. Do you enjoy a cup of coffee there often?
You have accomplished so much in your new home I am amazed.
I know you can’t wait to use your back patio. I look forward to seeing the grand reveal.
    Have a blessed week.

Shirley, your porch is beautiful with your pretty in pink flowers and the blue shutters. It offers a lovely welcome to all who visit with the gorgeous double doors and your monogrammed rug. The ivy topiaries have survived and thrived for many years and look wonderful flanking your doors. The patio area and fireplace are stunning! I know you are excited to see it completed. It is a beautiful place for entertaining. I am looking forward to how you will dress it…to the nines I am sure. It is always a pleasure to join you for Monday Morning Blooms and flower inspiration!

Shirley — The pink theme on your porch is so pretty. I always get distracted by different plants sat the garden center and end up with a hodgepodge of blooms. I’ll have to think “coordination” next year. .

Shirley, your home is just lovely! The style of bricks, the pattern, blue shutters, oh so pretty! I can’t wait to see your patio all decorated! Your plant selections are just perfect, and seem to really thrive in your climate. I love hydrangeas but they are not the easiest to grow in my SoCal garden. Pinned a few of these beautiful photos for future reference!

Shirley, your back patio looks just like I thought it would, so beautiful. It will look amazing once you add the plants, and everything else to make it truly yours. What a gorgeous spot to celebrate life with family and friends. That pink color is perfect for your front porch, cheerful and just the right touch to welcome all to your door. Your hydrangeas look stunning, Ours in our Southern California garden are doing well this year too. Happy Monday, dear friend, as always it is a joy to join you today. Xo Lidy

Shirley, your entry is so inviting! I love the profusion of pink blooms. My pink hydrangeas served me well this spring, but have now faded. I’m going to try planting them in the ground, but not hopeful they will survive our summer temps. I’ve selected a dappled sun rare. We will see.
How do you get your geraniums to bloom so full? I love geraniums, but my blooms are not plenty. Do your plants bloom all summer, or does the heat destroy them. My geraniums, even in more protected areas, don’t do well in our heat.
Love your new fireplace terrace. I know you are going to enjoy having this wonderful space.

Shirley your front porch is stunning! I also have two bright pink geraniums in blue and white chinoiserie pots left to me by my late aunt. I just love the colour combination. Most hydrangea here are blue, keeping them pink is a challenge. Shirley would you share ( if you can) the colour of your exterior window shutters? I am looking for something similar for our front door.
Always a pleasure to visit your lovely home and to see what your friends are up to in their pretty gardens!

Shirley, your front porch is stunning! I love so much about it and most of it has already been commented on. You not only design a beautiful interior but are great at the exterior features. I can’t wait to see how you decorate your outdoor fireplace area. I too love the curves in the designs, both front and back.

Shirley, what a grand home you and your husband have built! Oh my, I can only imagine the challenges you’ve faced with getting workers in this past two years. The work so far is gorgeous, and your landscape is coming along beautifully. The pinks on the front porch are gorgeous. I look forward to seeing your hydrangea garden in future years! Annabelles remind me of my childhood home. The blooms are such a lovely old-fashioned look. I would try again on the other side after soil testing so another might catch up to the growth of the other one. Happy summer and happy gardening!
