Two Bunny Themed Centerpieces

It’s that time of the year when we are thinking cute bunnies!

Last week I found some very adorable bunnies at HomeGoods.

They were holding the Golden Egg.

The wheels started turning in my head . . . you could actually hear the squeaking!

I thought that there were so many things that I could do with them and I have.

Today, I present you with the first of the series of The Bunnies with the Golden Egg.

A Spring Dish Garden

Welcome to Floral Friday!

Today it is all about A Spring Dish Garden.

It all started with a new bowl by Pottery Barn.

The large double handle bowl from the Sonoma Vase Collection.

It reminded me a little bit of the French Tian bowl (without the handles).

The Tian  was mainly used to make Cassoulets, Ratatouille, and

storing fruits and vegetables to name a few of its purposes.

I placed this bowl on the dining room table knowing that I wanted to place some

pretty Spring flowers in it.

How To Easily and Inexpensively Flock A Christmas Tree

For many years, I have had a Christmas tree in my dining room.

It is usually a small slim tree that can be easily placed in a corner.

This year I wanted to do something different, without breaking the bank.

A bit of a different look. I then had an epiphany!

I remembered something that I have used in the past

to embellish my plain miniature Christmas trees.

So today I shall show you how to easily and inexpensively flock a Christmas tree.

But first, let me show you last year’s dining room christmas tree.

Beyond the Doors

They say it is always good to have a second pair of eyes.

Eyes that see differently ….. from a different perspective.

This is exactly what happened the day of the photo shoot

by ShowSpaces Photography.

I noticed the photographer kept opening doors. Hmmm, I thought, for more light?

The photographer stated that you need to see what is beyond the doors.

Can you have too much blue and white?

The other day I was strolling through my favorite consignment store, Always Home,

with some friends and I spotted something.

It caught my eye right away and I scurried over to it

as it sat so beautifully on a table.

I then thought to myself . . . Can you have too much blue and white?

As I looked the item over, I thought, now really Shirley . . .  do you really need this?

I walked around a little more, and realized, there is no such thing

as too much blue and white!

Dining Room Changes

I guess you can say that every room in this house is going through a change

in that there is a room with less. Less items to create a more spacious feel

and then there is the more . . . taking things away means more to pack away.

Speaking of less, I will be keeping the centerpiece on the dining room table simple.

However, simple does not mean you cannot have a bit of elegance too.

Today I present my dining room changes, starting with the simple, yet elegant centerpiece.

Vignettes Tell A Story and A Winner

Do your vignettes tell a story?

Mine always seem like they do.

Whenever I gather things to place on a table or a surface/area I am styling,

I think of each piece and the story behind it.

Whether it be a memory of a friend, a place that I traveled to, or a shopping experience

with friends or family. There is always a story. Stories of  fun times and

sometimes bittersweet, because  that particular memory is that of a person who is  longer with us.

French Door Love. What Were We Thinking?

As my hubby and I pour over house plans with one in particular,

we discovered that we definitely are not only downsizing in square footage,

but downsizing in the amount of windows and french doors.

We have French door love. What were we thinking?

Yes, what were we thinking when we installed 7 sets of french doors in this house.

We were thinking that they bring in so much light and are just beautiful.

A Mother’s Day Letter, A Tribute to My Mom with Balsam Hill

Years ago, as Mother’s Day was approaching,

I was thinking about my Grandmother . . . my mother’s mother.

I never met her. She passed away when my mom was just 16 years old.

I have always dreamed about how it would be like, to have spent time with her,

to have her tell me stories of my mom, when she was a young girl.

So I sat down one day and wrote her a letter.

A Mother’s Day letter, a tribute to my mom.

From the Consignment Shop to the House

A while back I presented one of my favorite consignments shops

that has wonderful things for all things home.

If you missed that post, you can see what I am referring to

as my favorite consignment shop.

I presented one of my finds there in this post of my sunroom

of a Chelsea House Chinoiserie table.

However, I found another piece there that I want to share with you today

and the items that my friend Sherri took home with her too!
