The Great Room for Christmas

Hello Dear Readers!

I am getting near the finish line

toward the end of the Christmas decorating

(however, is there really an end?).

Today, I thought that I would take you

into the room where we spend the most time in….

the Great Room. It is not really a large area

as it is divided by a small sitting area to its

left…but I do love the coziness of it.

The Magnolia Foyer and a Winner

Hello Dear Readers!

I hope you all had a most Merry weekend. Our weekend was a special one

as we had our very first snow of the season. It was a Winter Wonderland of Snow.

About  6 to 8 inches of snow fell pretty much overnight,

and by the late afternoon it started melting due to the freezing rain.

Just hope it doesn’t turn to ice!

I have a couple of “snow photos” for you to see and

today, it is all about the Magnolia Foyer and a winner.

The foyer in the Berry Patch house is not large,

so simple Christmas decor is all it needs.

Foyer Reveal with the Louis XVI Antique Mirror

I must say that things are progressing at the Berry Patch house.

Not as fast as we would like it, but we need to allow ourselves to enjoy life

and not be too intense about organizing our new spaces.

Well, that is what we keep telling ourselves!

There is still lots of work to be done.

I guess we could just live among the boxes with the bare minimum of what we need around us,

since the Berry Patch House is temporary; however, it is not us.

We both need a sense of calm, organization and “pretty”.

Which makes me think of what my mom always says about us:

that we are “two pods in a pea” . . . she gives new meaning to “two peas in a pod”  Gotta love her!

I thought I would be a bit methodical and after the Berry Patch Dining Room was done,

what better room to start off with than the room as you enter the house. The Foyer.

So here is my Foyer Reveal with the Louis XVI Antique Mirror.

The Foyer for Christmas

For the first decorated room/area reveal this Christmas season is the room/area

that you first see when you enter my home . . . The Foyer for Christmas.

This year, rather than filling the house with many of my Christmas treasures that

I have collected over the years, I am trying to embellish the things that I already have.

This way I do not have to banish lots of accessories into the attic.

Now it is not to say that I am not using many of my Christmas treasures,

just scaling down a bit.

First Impressions {Velvet Pumpkins}

They say that first impressions are important.

The curb appeal of your home is definitely a first impression of your property.

A beautiful door can also be the first impression of your personality.

A yellow door of happiness, a purple door of creativeness . . .

When you enter through the doors of a home, I would say the first impression

of the soul of the house is in the foyer/entry.

Simple Summer Blue and White Vignette

Before I left for Tennessee last week to join the Boys of Summer,

I re-potted some topiaries into blue and white containers.

I had been wanting to do that for a while now, and finally got around to it

as I wanted to create a simple summer blue and white vignette

for the French buffet in the foyer.

From the Consignment Shop to the House

A while back I presented one of my favorite consignments shops

that has wonderful things for all things home.

If you missed that post, you can see what I am referring to

as my favorite consignment shop.

I presented one of my finds there in this post of my sunroom

of a Chelsea House Chinoiserie table.

However, I found another piece there that I want to share with you today

and the items that my friend Sherri took home with her too!

A Winter Foyer and A Unique Planter

The foyer is simply decorated for Winter.

However, there is a little surprise in the foyer.

Something very unique that I found on my birthday.

Repurposing Candle Holders Into Pedestals

I needed  something to place my blue and white ginger jars on to gain more height.

I only had one small pedestal  that I use to prop things on, but needed two.

I came across a second set of Pottery Barn candleholders that were put away

on my staging shelves in the attic. I then got the epiphany, the light bulb moment.
