Shabby/Industrial Chic on the Porch

It’s another treasure presented today from my antiquing field trip.

You may have seen a sneak peek of this unique sort of piece.

I loved it and I knew that my hubby would love it too . . . and he did.

Not sure about how unusual it is; however, I have never seen an item like this with multiple uses.

Thinking of Spring Past and Present

As soon as the temperatures started to climb,

I started thinking about what I wanted to plant . . . of the garden centers I want to visit.

With all of this crazy weather of snow one day and warm temperatures a couple days later,

one cannot think of the days of Spring to come.

The very first thing I do when there are no more threats of frost,

I head to the garden center and buy 12 hanging ferns, eight for the back veranda and

two for the front porch and two for the upper back porch. Its says, Spring has come to the South!!

2014 Fall Front Porch

Fall is my very favorite time to decorate my front porch . . .

I think it is because I can decorate with the beautiful mums and pumpkins of the season.

Welcome to my home and porch dressed for Fall!!

Double doors flanked by ivy topiaries and “double wreaths” welcome you.

Dreaming of Flowers and a Feature

For many of us, we had a break this weekend . . .

~ ~ a break from rain and cold.

However, it started again on Sunday . . rain and cold.

Today was beautiful with a cloudless Carolina blue sky . .

I can only dream of flowers that will come . . .

Like the ones in my back yard last Summer . .

Or the ones that were on my front porch in the Fall.

But for now, I have to enjoy these:

Great room flowers

Flowers from the grocery store . .

Tulip Arrangement

And flowers from a sister, “just because”….

And if you want to see some of the rooms these flowers are in . . .

Hop on over to Katherine’s Corner as she is featuring me today!

Have a wonderful day!!

Fall Tidbits

I am still in France….and by now, I am hoping that I have found some great treasures…

Today, I just want to share some Fall Tidbits from the previous year…

My collection of Velvet Pumpkins…

…..I saved some stems from last year and hope to make a few this year.

Or maybe I could duplicate this felted wool pillow that I purchased from a craft show long ago….

I truly love this season of pumpkins and wonderful tones of oranges and browns.

And fall wreaths and pumpkins welcoming friends and family.

I just took out the boxes of Fall decor from the attic and hope to create a garland..

…..out of these pretty stems that I purchased last year to make this centerpiece.

And need to help plan a special birthday party for my mom, who will be 88 in November..

…’s a surprise. 88..a great year…”double infinity”.

I am sure you are all busy making your home warm and inviting, preparing for the Fall Season…

You will get some great inspiration from this great Fall Party starting September 30th.

Have a wonderful day!!

Ever So Clever, Ever So Pretty Friday, #14 {Muslin Garland Summer Wreaths and Porch}

Happy Friday!

Well, there was no Tropical Storm this week to prevent me from my Friday Feature…just a storm brewing…

…..however, I got the photos taken in time!…

This week my inspiration comes from Holly of Down to Earth Style.

She made a beautiful muslin wreath…

I did not make the entire wreath muslin…I added a muslin garland to my summer wreaths.

…..I took the easy route!

Look how gorgeous Holly’s wreath is!!

I went to Michaels one day and saw these great garlands…so the “light” went on.

I weaved the garland of fabric strips throughout my summer wreath.

June 14th is Flag Day…so I adorned my topiaries with multiple flags…

Years ago, I saw that Martha Stewart placed flags in her planters as I did….

……I loved it and have been doing this for years now.

Thank you Holly for giving me my inspiration for my summer door wreaths….

……I love your many creative projects!

And you can see many of Holly’s projects at Down to Earth Style.

Like this awesome console she made from pallets!!

Fall Front Porch…Monogrammed Burlap Wreaths

The wreaths are up…the porch has ushered in Fall…

…..but I am certain that I will be doing more tweaking here and there.

My friend Frances did it again…

…..she monogrammed an initial on burlap for my fall wreaths.

Thanks Frances…they turned out great…

I placed the burlap monogram on a quilter’s hoop…

…..and added some Fall embellishments on the side.

I love my faux pumpkin with the pineapple…

… it about 6 years ago in Colorado of all places…

……….my friend Linda bought one too!

I am keeping the porch simple…may add a few more pumpkins when the temps are cooler…

…..and a few Fall pillows.

We have had quite a bit of rain lately, so the mums are doing well.

I love this little guy…

And the turtle always makes an appearance…

I love placing flowers on the steps to welcome friends and family

I hope you enjoyed my simple Fall porch…..

…..wanted to show you what I have done so far….as next week I will be running the roads…

……….taking care of lots of errands…preparing for…

A Double Welcome to You

I love looking at all the beautiful doors with their creative wreaths and decorations….

……all so magnificently displayed

One of my favorites has to be this one with a monogram

When I create something for my door…I must do two items…twins….

……what was I thinking?…double doors?…”double stuff” for the doors…

But when you are carrying in large pieces of furniture..they really come in handy….handy dandy…

I refreshed my autumn wreath..removing the acorns and feathers…and added more magnolias

A double welcome to my home….

Love my vintage wagon….

My irises…I really need to relocate them now…now that the shrubs grew!..

On this “pretty note”….I thank you for visiting me…..and my “double door welcome”…..
