Ever So Clever…Ever So Pretty Friday, #3 {Spring Door Baskets}

Well, it’s Friday again..time flies.

And today I present you with a project that inspired me…

…..Oh that Mary, from Home Is Where The Boat Is was at it again with another gorgeous project.

Here is my inspiration:

dsc_0122-001

Beautiful, isn’t it?

So I set forth and took these baskets out of the attic…

I got them from a friend at the yard sale…She gave them to me with the promise I visit her in her new home…

…..in Florida….and I did!

DSC_8702

The baskets were not the same color…one had faded more than the other…

…..so I painted them with Annie Sloan Country Grey.

DSC_8703

I placed a real ivy plant in the basket as the faux ivy fades so terribly on the front porch.

Added my Johnson Brothers Pomona plate, a bird’s nest and a “moss butterfly”

DSC_8747

I bought these pretty moss/twig butterflies from my favorite garden center.

Bought the bird’s nests there too…oh, you can see my garage doors in the reflection…

…..and you can also see how pretty it was today…but cold and very, very windy!

So windy, that after I took my pictures, I had to take the baskets down temporarily…

…..as they were literally swaying in the wind!

DSC_8738

I have double doors…I like the convenience of double doors, but always have to make double the wreaths, etc.

And while I was at it…I decided to “spiff” up the front porch a bit.

DSC_8741

I placed some snapdragons in this very pretty bowl that I bought from Kristen.

Just love using the unexpected for plantings.

DSC_8740

Placed a moss/twig butterfly in the bowl.

DSC_8718

I love these butterflies, especially at $1.99..

DSC_8723

Calla Lillies and these pretty petunias from Lowe’s add color ..

……the petunias are actually in a hanging bag, but works great placed on a table.

DSC_8744

Burlap ribbon is at the base of the Calla Lillies.

Hope you enjoyed my Ever So Clever, Ever so Pretty Friday.

Thank you Mary for the inspiration!…

And at this time I would like to announce the winner of the $25.00 Pottery Barn Gift Card.

The question was, “what was one of the constants that you saw in quite a few rooms?”

Many guesses were fruit, orchids, wicker…but the answer is this:

DSC_8324

These drapes!…These same drapes were in many of the rooms…I found that very interesting.

Two people guessed the correct answer and one them was my friend, Pam D.

When I told her that she was in the “hat” for the drawing, she graciously said to give it to the other reader…

So the the winner is: Kathleen Bolton…Congrats!!

Thanks to all of you who participated!! I truly appreciate it!!

Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend!!

More Fall tidbits…

I have a few more Fall tidbits to share….

…..before it all goes away next week and the sounds of Ho-Ho-Ho are in the air.

Actually, I am about a week behind in starting my Christmas decorating.

…..but I am really enjoying the Fall.

The chalkboard easel wording has not changed in a while…

…..it pretty much sums up life in this house!

DSC_5133

The antique scale has served this area well…

…..a great item for staging seasonal decor.

Suzy from Worthing Court stayed at my home the night before the Southern Bloggers Conference…

…..and brought me these cutest pumpkin salt and pepper shakers!

DSC_5127

A bit of a Fall Vignette on the bar…

…..notice the pink heart on the bird…my granddaughter’s decorative touch!..:)

DSC_5111

Some acorns from my neighbor’s yard in my Limoges basket…

DSC_5120

DSC_5112

Bought these pumpkins from HomeGoods…

DSC_5110

DSC_5136

Added a few “tidbits” to the console table…

DSC_5145

You can see a little bit of the leaves turning gold in the reflection of the mirror.

DSC_5140

DSC_5143

I got another Plush Pumpkin while I was in Florida last week…love the color!

DSC_5105

It’s called Lagoon (blue)

DSC_5107

And lastly…the coffee table pumpkins…

I have had these for years…just love that they were not your typical orange…

RELOCATING THE FURNITURE AND ACCESSORIES…the Domino Effect Part 2

So…the mirror that was located in the foyer needed a new home…

……….and the lamp too.

But the mirror and the lamp would not look good over this space:

Entry into Kitchen

So I “shopped the house”….

Searching for an appropriate piece of furniture for this area…

It had to be narrow.

Dining room side table

I thought this table may do the trick….

It actually is a sofa table that I purchased from Ethan Allen years ago..

I think this is the piece for this space.

Entry Wall to Kitchen

DSC_4131

I think I have convinced my hubby to paint the a/c and outlet covers to match the paint.
They really stand out on the wall…:(

DSC_4140

The table has enough length to accommodate all the accessories and lamp.

I originally had crystal serving pieces on the bottom shelf when it was in the dining room.

So I needed something to place on that shelf.

DSC_4132

So much for my zero dollars “domino effect”….

A trip to Hobby Lobby and 4 baskets later…I think it was just what this shelf needed!

I took accessories from around the room including this one..

DSC_4136

Actually this is a covered crystal jar that I placed on a Pottery Barn candle holder…

…..it actually worked out well…do ya think?

DSC_4155

DSC_4154

I bought a set of these candle holders at the Pottery Barn Outlet..

…..on my way home from Haven…

…………with the intention of possibly using them as “lifts/stands”

This is the other candle holder that I used…turned it upside down and it makes a great stand.

DSC_3987

I used my Johnson Brothers Pomona plates…

…..as they worked well with the color scheme and has a bit of a “Fall” feel…

DSC_4153

DSC_4133

I am pleased that I was able to relocate the lamp to this area…and my sentimental mirror too!

DSC_4159

I am really enjoying that the mirror reflects the shutters over the mantel…

DSC_4142

And how it reflects the outdoors….

DSC_4184

My Trader Joe’s orchid was happy there…so I made sure it stayed in the same place….

DSC_4157

Now…where did the cabinet go that was in this area?….

DSC_4180

It just swapped places with the sofa table that was in the dining room….

DSC_4174

This cabinet will live here until I can get my window seat built in this area…

…..all in due time…

But until then…I am having fun re-designing the “domino affected” areas….

Stay tuned to Part Three….where did that mirror that was over the cabinet…

…..that is now in the dining room go?
