A Wreath Is Not Only for a Door. . . A Mantelscape

A wreath is not only for a door.

You have seen them hung on walls, on mirrors, on a bookcase

or a decorative element for a chair.

So many ways that you can decorate with a wreath.

I have used my preserved boxwood wreath in a container in the past.

Today, it is in a container.

Happy 2016 and a Review of My 2015 Favorites

Happy 2016!! I hope you all had a most wonderful New Year’s Eve

welcoming in the New Year.

I have no resolutions this year.

Why?

Maybe it is because my goal for this year is to enjoy each day, each moment

one day at a time, one moment at a time.

The “Que Sera, Sera” attitude . . . to be happy that I woke up and saw the sun

and ended the day with a goodnight kiss.

For today, I will reflect back on my favorite projects of 2015.

Because this project was for my “sweetie”, it was my favorite.

The Christmas Tree at Sunset

I finally decorated the tree that day

and placed the packages and baskets around the tree.

It was getting late.

The sun was setting.

I grabbed my camera to take a few “first” pictures of the tree this year.

Our Great Room Christmas Mantel

Our Great Room Christmas mantel this year

is probably the most simplistic mantel that I have created.

I promised myself this year

that I am really going to downsize my Christmas decorations.

I did give many boxes of Christmas ornaments, florals and decorations

along with a couple of trees to Habitat last year.

However, I did keep these little trees!

How To Work With A TV Over A Mantel

Many of us these days have TV’s over a mantel that is located in a family room

or in my case, what we call our media room.

A place where we retreat to when there are more than just the two of us watching TV.

Where there is very large sofa and chairs to accommodate a crowd.

Staging a mantel with a TV mounted over it  can be a challenge.

Being careful that you do not obstruct or detract from the TV viewing.

So using some things that I already had and some vintage items I recently purchased,

I began to create a new “TV Mantelscape”

How to Bring the Outdoors In

Our home is very open to views to the outdoors.

There are french doors in almost every room of the house with views to the back yard . . .

and the golf course beyond.

So the outdoors is a integral part of our home and I love bringing the outdoors in.

Whether it be with many plants or garden elements.

Rustic and Elegance, A Great Combination

I cannot say that my house is either rustic or elegant.

However, I would like to feel that I have a bit of both.

Marrying the two elements to make an interesting vignette or feel of a room.

I removed the winter items from the mantel and added a few of my favorite pieces to create a rustic feel

with a bit of elegance.

Easily Transitioning from Christmas to a Winter Mantel

When I created my Christmas Mantel, I kept in mind that I want to be able to easily transition

it to Winter by making a few adjustments.

By doing this, this certainly created less work and a great segue into Winter.
