How to Add French Flair to a Table

I have seen so many beautiful French inspired pieces with beautiful gilding.

Painted pieces embellished with beautiful trim and carving that has been gilded.

I have a table that I just recently painted white and distressed it.

How to add French flair to a table?

Gild it with Rub ‘n Buff!

A Table Makeover and A Mossy Candle

It took me a while and after careful consideration

weighing the fact that this table was not a family heirloom or an expensive piece of furniture,

actually a very inexpensive piece from Bombay Company many years ago . . .

I decided to take the plunge and paint it.

Accent table-Housepitality Designs

This accent table is in the master bedroom sitting area. It originally had the typical

Bombay dark wood stain. I painted it with Annie Sloan Pure White and distressed it.

Here is what it looked like before: (table on the left)

I knew as soon as I started painting it, that I would love it. No regrets.

I left the original finish on the drawer and slide out tray.

Now I will move on to paint the table on the other side of the sofa.

When I was placing the candle holder back on the table replacing it with a candle

rather than a faux boxwood ball, I noticed it was a bit stark. It needed texture.

So I got out my bag of moss and my glue gun and I covered the battery operated candle,

with the moss. Now I would not recommend using a real candle if you plan on lighting it! 🙂

Love the way it turned out.

Easy peasy!

I think I will be trying some other finishes on my battery operated candles.

This table received 2 little makeovers of paint and moss!

Relocating the ASCP Duck Egg Blue Painted Table

If you read about my “Unintended Paint Project”

… know that the table did not go well in the living/great room as I intended.

So, I roamed the house…tried a few spaces to find it a home…and it landed in the second guest room.

…..this room also doubles as my craft room.

I replaced a lower profile nightstand that was a part of our very first bedroom set with this table.

If I had originally wanted this table in this room, I most likely would have gone with another color….

…..but for now, it shall stay ASCP Duck Egg.

I placed a vintage milk bottle from the Biltmore Estate Dairy that I purchased from Kristen

…..filled it with pretty “grocery store roses” and rosemary from my yard (deer hate rosemary!)….

Added a magazine and a dish of chocolates for guests…

I have plans to replace the nightstand on the other side…one of my many projects…

… for now…the table has found a home…

……….and all’s well, that ends well with the unintended paint project.

An Unintended Painting Project…The Tale of a ASCP Duck Egg Blue Table

I hope you all had wonderful Memorial Day weekend…

I took a bit of a blog break to travel to Florida to attend my nephew’s graduation.

It was great to be with all my siblings and my mom.

So…have you ever had an unintended painting project? I did…..yesterday.

But all’s well that ends well…

This is the end result…

The original table…I decided it needed a facelift… overdue update..

I wanted to incorporate more blue in the room….Have been doing that a little at a time…

But not this much blue!….

It just “bugged me”…just wasn’t right…

I truly love the color…Annie Sloan Duck Egg..

…..but not here.

I kept the gold scroll details on the table…

After I made the decision to take the table out of the room, I shopped the house.

There was a table in my hubby’s office next to his chair….it was my late mother-in-law’s.

I realized that the combination of the wood and cream tones of the marble top might work.

I truly feel this table works better than either of the two.

Never thought to place that table there, until my “unintended paint project”…

I scurried around last night gathering some “new” things to put on this table…

One of my very favorite pictures remain on this table along with my antique “Home Sweet Home” book.

I love that the beige and cream tones of the marble go so well with the new fabric of the chair..

I am happy with the change…so “all’s well that end’s well”….

Stay tuned to where that blue table has landed…

…..I need to move three things around to create a new home for the table….

……….you know, that “domino effect”…

So, have you had any “unintended paint projects”???…or was it just me?!!

Have a wonderful day!!!
