Woodland Winter Vignette of White and Green

Every year I try to “mix things up” with the decorations I have on hand.

I do have approximately 50 large containers and boxes of Christmas decor..

~ ~ not to mention trees, wreaths and garland.

I have a great inventory collected over the years to choose from ~ ~years of “after Christmas sales”!

As I do with accessories during the year, I am changing the “geography” of my Christmas Decor.

I decided this year that I will use a softer palette of white, silver and green in the great room.

Woodland Winter Christmas Vignette 2013

I began with the Pottery Barn candlesticks and a faux evergreen swag.

I placed a mini faux wreath at the base of the platform..

~ ~ to give the topiary ball a bit of a “winter feel”

I love creating arrangements and experimenting with different textures.

A great place for a winter bird to perch.

Placed a faux evergreen tree in the Pottery Barn Leah Hurricane..

~ ~ I use Department 56 faux snow as it is very fine and more realistic.

I added two clear glass pine cone ornaments that have twigs inside..

~ ~ I love the texture that the twigs bring to the ornament.

Birdcage Vignette

I am slowly making some small changes in my master bedroom…

I have a dresser that has a “matchy” mirror.

I tried to “hide” that fact by placing a large birdcage in front of the dresser.

Housepitality Designs

It did the trick..but it was time for a change.

Housepitality Designs

This area seemed to be the perfect fit.

Housepitality Designs

I bought this birdcage a few years ago at our neighborhood yard sale.

It actually has two additional sections that you can add to the bottom portion.

Housepitality Designs

I added an orchid from Trader Joe’s to the vignette and placed it in a vintage American Fostoria vase.

Housepitality Designs

The Leah Hurricane from Pottery Barn remains on the table…

Housepitality Designs

In the morning when the sun is shining through the windows…

…..there are beautiful little reflections of rainbow colors on the wall.

Housepitality Designs

They are from my Swarovski Crystals that hang in my windows..

I so enjoy this “mini light show” every morning…just starts the day off on a happy note!

And I hope your day started out on a happy note too!!!

A Spring Vignette {Pottery Barn Candlesticks and Leah Hurricane}

I love the versatility of my ceramic Pottery Barn Candlesticks and Leah Hurricane.

I use these pieces in so many different ways.

This vignette went from an Easter theme to Spring.

This table is in the passageway to the kitchen area.

It was originally my sofa table many years ago. It is perfect for this narrow passageway.

DSC_9576

You can see part of the kitchen through the doorway.

DSC_9577

As you can see, I used the candlesticks as holders for the topiaries…

I placed reindeer moss at the base of the topiary for some color and texture.

I have used this Leah Hurricane from Pottery Barn in so many different ways…

…..for Easter, I had filled it with my White House Easter Egg Roll Commemorative Eggs.

Now, it holds a bird’s nest and the mother watching over her eggs…

I purchased this pretty Demijohn at the High Point Market..it was a great deal..

…..so I could not wait to place it somewhere in my house…and it landed here.

I love the color and texture it added to the vignette.

This Spring vignette contains many things that I already have with the exception of this new Demijohn

…..and two new books it sits on..The Welcoming House (by Jane Schwab and Cindy Smith)…

………. and Paris Flea Market Style (by Claudia Strasser). Both fabulous books!

The chalkboard print remains on the mirror…I love it there.

While at Trader Joe’s the other day, I spotted this pretty succulent arrangement…it quickly went in my cart!

DSC_9580

Just hoping that this does well in the house…Any tips out there?

……….One of Linda’s tablescapes and her beautiful deck that overlooks the magnificent Rocky Mountains.

Jane has featured non-blogger/readers’ home decor projects and crafts on her blog..Such a nice feature!
