Spring Mantel

Hello Dear Readers!

I created a simple Spring Mantel here at the Berry Patch House.

I thought that I would keep the blue and white pieces on the mantel

and add one more piece that actually is part of a set of three.

I had only used two of those pieces previously on the mantel.

I actually created the Spring Mantel to prepare for the Great Room Reveal

that I have been promising. Stay tuned for that this coming Thursday!

I am dreaming of decorating my mantels at the new house hopefully by Fall.

Where Did The Flowers Go?

Hello Dear Readers!

A while ago, when I did a Monday Morning Blooms post,

someone asked what I do with the flowers when I do a “floral vignette”

using several vases and containers of flowers in one setting.

Today, I shall show you what I did with the many flowers and vases that I

presented in the Citrus and Flowers post.

Simply Decorated the Mantel for Spring with Roses

I wasn’t quite sure of which direction I wanted to go in

to decorate the mantel for Spring.

I seem to like the bread boards against the backdrop of the wood and iron shutters;

therefore,  they will stay. I just wanted a touch of color and texture.

So I simply decorated the mantel for Spring with roses . . . . dried roses.

I Was Inspired

I was inspired to create a vignette after seeing the cover of a book.

Do you get inspired that way? . . . You see an image and then get the epiphany!

I was struggling with how to create a new vignette on my coffee table for a Spring look,

or just a new look for that matter . . . and there it was, my inspiration sitting on the table!

Spring Mantel

Creating the Spring Mantel was next on the agenda

for Springifying the house.

I  am anxious to decorate the porches for Spring;

however, the pollen has truly prevented me from doing that.

Hopefully in another week or so, I can beautify the porches for Spring.

In the meantime, with no pollen getting in the way,

I decorated the mantel for a Spring look using items that I already had in my home.

How to Bring the Outdoors In

Our home is very open to views to the outdoors.

There are french doors in almost every room of the house with views to the back yard . . .

and the golf course beyond.

So the outdoors is a integral part of our home and I love bringing the outdoors in.

Whether it be with many plants or garden elements.

Simply Spring Mantel 2014

Because I have a very “busy” item above my mantel . . .

~ ~ I try to keep the mantel decor simple.

I shopped the house . . .

~ ~ and came up with this “mantelscape”.

Spring Mantel 2014

I started out with a vase of twigs and blueberry branches and a touch of white . . .

~ ~ with a pair of pineapple finials on each side.

What’s a Spring Mantel without birds . . .

~ ~ so a pair of creamware bird plates on gold plate stands were added.

My Spring Mantel Feature on Pottery Barn

An email appeared in my in-box…from Pottery Barn!

They would like to know if I would consider allowing them to feature my Spring Mantel on their blog.

OK…after a one second deliberation…YES!!!…OH YES YOU MOST CERTAINLY CAN!!

I displayed the Pottery Barn Bunnies on my mantel and used them as playful bookends.

Can you tell that I am over the top excited…the earth moved as I turned cartwheels across the floor!

…..and some people think it was a mini earthquake.

So thank you Pottery Barn…for giving this old body the opportunity to turn cartwheels across the floor!

…..and to think it all started with this cutie:

So if you would like to see my feature…click here:

Living Room Mantel and More Changes

The living room is free of all winter decorating…

…..I am moving on to “pre-Spring” since Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early Spring..!!

I took down the “winter decor” of branches with icicles and replaced them with these cute bunnies.

I finally found these bunnies at the Pottery Barn outlet in Georgia…

…..by the time I went to buy them last year, they were sold out…so glad they are back this year.

Such a playful couple…holding up the “Boys and Girls Bookshelf Books….

I wanted a more “cleaner pre-Spring” look for the mantel…

…..after having so much going on the mantel these past few months (and more)!

I purchased these books from an antique shop while on the “thrifting tour”…..

…..with the Southern Bloggers Conference.

The books came with the original box…it is dated 1910 and has the original shipping label on it!

They are a set of 12 and there were only 7 in the box….

…..so now I am on the quest to find the other 5 books.

Now.. the box contains some of my vintage games.

When the winter decor was eliminated from the room…I set out to shop the house and freshen up some new areas.

This hurricane was in the sunroom with shells….I brought it to the living room…

…..added beach glass for color.

Brought back the PB mercury glass balls…

While at the outlet mall…

…..I scored, along with Kim, this beautiful basket from Williams Sonoma…It was $60 off!

You may have seen this on Kim’s table in her sunroom.

A few more little changes here and there…

A lamp moved from the sunroom….pillows moved to the sofa from the bedroom…

That domino effect again….

And always keeping my favorite picture nearby…

Oh just look at those two young things!!…:)

Now, if you are observant like my friend Linda…you would say…

….now wasn’t that topiary that is on the mantel in the sunroom just the other day?

Yes, but things change around here quickly…and it was replaced by this watercolor.

And the candle hopped over to the potting bench…

So here you have it…my “pre-Spring” decor for the living/great room…..

…..Let’s see how long it takes me to change it up again!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!
