A Creative Carolina Tablescape

A Creative Carolina Tablescape was the thing to create when my theme for my dinner group party was

“A Taste of Carolina”

We are a part of a Dinner Group consisting of wonderful friends

who I must say are fantastic cooks and gracious hosts.

I created this tablescape a couple of years ago and thought that I would present it again

to show you how to incorporate the love of your state and a unique parting gift for your guests.

It my was my turn and I had a very hectic schedule that week

so with some advice from a friend I decided to do something different.

TAKE OUT!!!  From some of my favorite restaurants and deli’s in my city.

I live in an area filled will the most wonderful restaurants.

Summer/Fall Fruit and Sunflower Table Centerpiece

Summer is going by so quickly . . . many students have already returned to school . . .

~ ~ and Labor Day is just around the corner.

Lately, I have been in a “sunflower state of mind” . . .

~ ~ a flower that I feel can be used for summer and fall.

The Lovely “Spring” and “Autumn”

When I first started following The 2 Seasons. . .

~ ~ the beautiful mother/daughter team referred to themselves as “Spring” and “Autumn” . . .

Then they decided to use their real names, Jordan (Spring) and Janette (Autumn).

I love their wonderful blog. . .

~ ~ they share their great DIY projects, world-wide travels, recipes and home decor projects.

Sunflower Inspired Decor

The other day, I was “on the hunt” for a new pillow for the great room.

I really did not have anything in mind . . . other than it had to coordinate with a gold throw.

Sunflower Decor

The pillow is crewel work of a pretty gold and brown flower . . .

~ ~ it reminded me of the colors of sunflowers.

Sunflower Decor

Found the throw at HomeGoods too . . it has a “furry” texture on one side . . .

~ ~ and a velvet texture on the other side.

Sunflower Decor

After I left HomeGoods, I went directly to Trader Joe’s to purchase some sunflowers.

I grabbed my red transferware pitcher that I purchased on my France trip and arranged the flowers.

Sunflower Decor

Sunflower Decor

My newly purchased ironstone tureen (my Pennsylvania deal) holds red apples for added color to the table.

Sunflower Decor

I changed out the garden stool that stood beside the chair and added the French Wine Picnic Basket . . .

~ ~ another find from France.

Funny how a item such as this pillow can inspire you to change things about . . .

~ ~ to keep the room fresh and interesting. Pretty changes . . . a good thing.

Have a wonderful day filled with inspiration!

To commemorate this wonderful day of the year for our Country….

……….I thought I would add a touch of Americana to kick off a summer mantel.

I began by placing a beautiful watercolor painted by my friend Martha Odins….

…..You can see her magnificent watercolors at

I added the patriotic tins I used for my dinner party tablescape….

…..and my folk art “Uncle Sam Bunny”…along with the saluting “Uncle Sam” made from clay…

These cuties were purchased from my many craft show days in the past….

…..waking up at the crack of dawn….

……….to be the first ones there….with my BFF’s Linda and Ruthie…

Isn’t he a cutie???..He’s saluting Martha too…for her magnificent watercolor of sunflowers….

PicMonkey Collage

I downsized many of my collections prior to our move….

…..however, I could not part with these guys!

I wish you all a very safe and Happy Independence Day….!

I cannot tell you how very much I love this beautiful country of ours…

…..I am forever grateful to our Founding Fathers for making this day possible….

My son and daughter-in-law know how much I love all things patriotic…..

…..they presented me with this wonderful book as a birthday gift.

And I leave you to celebrate this Day of Independence with a couple of pictures from my BFF Linda….

…..I am hoping that she will be participating in Jane and Leo’s Link Party….

……… Cottage At the Crossroads….

…………….They are starting a new Link Party featuring “non-blogger” readers.

What a wonderful idea Jane and Leo!!

Here are a couple of pics from her 4th of July Tablescapes…Great job Linda!

4th of July Inspired Tablescape

It was my turn.

My turn to host the dinner group….the group of gourmet cooks.

The group who plans magnificent dinners a year in advance.

Ordering wonderful ingredients from France…having special chiles fedexed from New Mexico.

And then there is me….the plain Jane cook.

I love this group… I try and distract them from my “Plain Jane” food

And direct most of their attention to the table…and good times with wonderful friends.

So to begin…rather than placemats, I folded dish towels in half….worked well…great size..

Then I gathered all my supplies.

Loved the metal red, white and blue picnic basket

that I saw on Mary’s blog, Home is Where the Boat Is

So I went to World Market, hoping that they had some left…I was lucky…they only had 2 left!!

I bought red “take out containers” and filled them with goodies for my guests to take home.

I love making up things so that my guests have an additional “treat”

Maybe  another way to detract from my “plain Jane” food.

Talking about food…I was so busy cooking and serving that I forgot to take pictures!…

We served baby back ribs, wonderfully cooked by my hubby….

One of the appetizers I made was a Blueberry Salsa…

a recipe that I got from Mary (Home is Where the Boat Is)

and then, there was my very first attempt at Cheesecake!!

Will be posting about that “miracle” soon…and thanks to Laura from Top This Top That for the recipe!

Love those little pinwheels

So now…I shall leave you, as I am putting appetizers on the table

and getting ready to greet my wonderful friends, who I love so dearly

to enjoy the evening with great food, drink, conversation, and lots of laughter!!

Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July everyone!!!

And I would like to give a big shout out to Susan from Between Naps on the Porch.

She is celebrating her 200th Tablescape Party…What an enormous accomplishment!

Her tablescapes are always gorgeous perfection!!
